Town Meeting on Wed 3/12
7 p.m. in the BHS auditorium
2013 Town Reports are in and available for pick up before the meeting at the library, community center and town hall. Childcare will be available at Town Meeting; for more information contact Jackie Coe, Interact Coordinator at BHS, email@example.com.
The library has two warrant articles up for consideration:
Article #12: To raise and appropriate $150,000 to be added to the Library Lower Level Capital Reserve Fund previously established.
This article places monies toward the renovation of the Library's lower level. Previously, the town approved $32,000 in 2012 (for architectural renderings and a cost estimate) and $50,000 in 2013 (towards actual renovation costs). The Library trustees are actively fundraising, with approximately $75,000 raised to date out of the $300,000 private fundraising goal. The total project cost is estimated at $600,000 (2013). The estimated tax impact of this warrant article is $0.14 per thousand (or $35 on a $250,000 home). For more information on the lower level project, visit www.bakerfreerenovation.org.
Article #17: To raise and appropriate $56,640 to be added to the Library Emergency Capital Reserve Fund previously established.
The Library Emergency Fund was created in 2005 to provide a contingency for unforeseen emergency repairs to the library facility and grounds. No withdrawals were made from this fund between 2005 and October 2013. In November 2013 the roof on the old portion of the library was replaced at a cost of $21,640. These monies were taken out of the Fund, and part of this warrant article seeks to replace them. The remaining $35,000 of the request is for an oil to gas conversion. The oil furnace is 25+ years old and at the low end of efficiency. Due to the school conversion away from oil to gas in 2013 we are unable to participate in the fuel co-op with Bow schools. The conversion would allow us to save money no annual fuel costs ($8,000 savings estimated for 2014/15 with the conversion) and to recoup the cost of the conversion within 5 years. The estimated tax impact of this warrant article is $0.05 per thousand (or $12.50 on a $250,000 home).
For more information on either of these articles or the library's 2014/15 budget, please contact Lori Fisher, Library Director, at 224-7113 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
