1000 Books Before Kindergarten!
Ready Your Child for a Lifetime of Reading
Research suggests that children need to hear about 1,000 books before they begin to read independently. Reading to children increases their vocabulary and improves comprehension, listening and narrative skills, as well as building traits like self-awareness, confidence, and empathy. Prepare your child for a lifetime of reading by sharing books together! Sign your child up for 1000 Books Before Kindergarten at the Baker Free Library, and earn prizes for every 100 books you share together. This program is ongoing; register anytime.
